Decarboktober

Some of our guests agree to let us measure their carbon footprint during their stay. We track the wood and electricity used to heat the house, the fuel burned getting here, the food on the table. The numbers aren't dramatic — but they're real. We only do this in October — hence the name. It's when the heating season begins and the full picture starts to emerge. You can't minimize what you don't count. Decarboktober is our attempt to count. The program is small and the dataset is young. But we believe that one day, when enough guesthouses in Transylvania are doing the same, this kind of data will matter — for guests who want to understand their impact, and for hosts who want to do something about it.
